My year got off to an absolutely flying start with the Chipping Village Hall Winter wedding of Jess and Ash. The day began over in Lytham St Annes with Jess, her bridesmaids, and family over at her parents house for preparations. The beautiful Winter light shone through the house as the girls prepared, every now again picking up a bit of sparkle along the way, I love it when that happens. After a great morning with everyone I made my way over to St Josephs Church to meet Ash and groomsmen as they greeted everyone into the church.
Jess arrived in style at the church in their family friends convertible Bentley (thank you weather for not raining!), she had a little crowd of very excited folks wanting to catch a glimpse of her arriving in her stunning dress. Her nephew in particular was very excited to see her, his little face lit up as he spotted her, it was so sweet. After a lovely ceremony everyone bombarded Jess and Ash with massive hugs and congratulations before we made out way over To Chipping Village Hall.
Now it’s no secret, I really do love village hall wedding receptions. I’ve got lucky and photographed some beauties since I’ve been doing this, I love how everyone pulls together, how you can be as creative as you want, and how you can turn a totally blank canvas into something spectacular. I’d met up with Jess and Ash over at the village hall previously to have a little look around, so when I walked in the wedding day I couldn’t quite believe the transformation into a twinkly Winter wonderland. There were fairy lights and beautiful green foliage strewed across the ceiling/over the stage, down the walls, it really was stunning.
The hall was packed out with family and friends who were all clearly in the mood to celebrate, and celebrate they did. Some rather brilliant speeches were followed by some rather brilliant dancing from everyone. Jess and Ash chose to have their guests join them on the dance floor for the first dance (a great idea if you don’t fancy the whole ‘everyone looking at you’ first dance) so it was full from the very beginning. Agent Smith had everyone rocking, with the occasional crowd invasion/shot dinking/participation along the way, all very entertaining to watch and photograph. I eventually headed on my way (although it was quite difficult to leave, I could have stayed all night photographing the movers and shakers), feeling really bloody happy to have been invited along to photograph such a brilliant day.
Thanks so much to Jess and Ash and a huge congratulations to you both!
