Portraits of a Portrait Artist
I photographed a portrait session with the rather brilliant Lucy Pass recently, over in her sunny studio. This was a first for me as I shot everything on film, something I’ve wanted to do for a little while but had the fear. You know the fear that puts you off doing something, because you’re worried it might not turn out the way you want it to? I think I’m so used to working with digital cameras, that it’s become second nature to be able to instantly view your work. It’s far too easy to delete anything you’re not too happy with, adjust accordingly etc.
Film Photography
After attending a film photography workshop with the ever inspiring Joanna Brown I came away with a new lease of life to try something new, and well, try to get rid of some of that fear.
When the film scans came back it felt a little bit like Christmas morning. It’s was either going to be that gleaming bike you’ve wanted for ages, or a pair of socks. To my utter joy it was the bike. I’m pretty excited to carry on with this little adventure and see where it takes me.
Mahooosive thanks to the beautiful Lucy. Not only is she ridiculously talented, she is also an absolute joy to hang out with. Thanks for being my guinea pig :).
