Adlington Hall Humanist Wedding Ceremony
I’m finally getting round to blogging Rachel and Justin’s Adlington Hall Wedding, I’m quite excited to share this with you. Rachel and Justin travelled over from their home in Indianapolis to marry in Rachel’s beloved home town of Manchester. Technically, they were already married, after doing the legal bit back in the states. With family and friends playing such a huge part in their lives, they wanted a day that not only reflected their love for each other, but one that celebrated the wonderful family and friends they share their lives with. There were SO many personal touches, with nods to Justin’s Polynesian heritage, and Rachel’s talented musical family, but there was one stand out one for me. Rachel wore the most incredible family treasure; her Grandma’s wedding headpiece. It was worn 70 years ago on her Grandma’s wedding day, and hand made by Rachels Great Aunt. It was so unique and suited Rachel perfectly. Their ceremony was performed in the great hall by one of their close friends. He did a stellar job, with some beautiful moments mixed in with plenty of laughs. Rachel’s Dad performed David Bowie’s Life on Mars on the piano during the ceremony too, it was such a beautiful moment.
Lock 91 Wedding Reception
After plenty of time drinking and celebrating, everyone made their way to Lock 91 in Manchester city centre to get the party started. I think it’s fair to say the party definitely started on that bus. I think it was a highlight of wedding photography career watching everyone sing their hearts out to the Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls and Mariah Carey (the Christmas song, In May). Once we arrived in the city centre, Rachel, Justin and I spent a little bit of time doing some city centre portraits (where I made Rachel spin far too much to show off her EPIC Rue De Seine dress) before heading back to the party. Plenty of laughter, lots of touching moments during speeches, and a lot of cocktails followed. I had such a brilliant time photographing this one, huge thanks to Rachel and Justin for having me along! Blimey, how did I get to the end of that without mentioning the family dog? I’m ashamed of myself!
