Brooklyn Family Portraits
Brooklyn family portraits, even writing the title for this blog post makes me smile. This was something that came about thanks to a lovely connection on my Instagram feed. I took a recent trip to New York and decided before I went that I’d really like to do a couple of portrait shoots whilst I was there. Why not hey? It’s basically combining two of my favourite things; New York and taking portraits. After putting a little shout out on Instagram feed, Sally got in touch with me to say she would love to step in front of the camera, along with her daughter Remi.
Fast forward a few weeks, and I’m stepping into their lovely apartment. Remi had clearly been practicing her blue steel face ahead of my visit, as you’re about to see. I spent a couple of hours at home with them and exploring the colourful streets of Bushwick, before saying goodbye armed with the biggest doughnut I’ve seen in a very long time.
This was a brilliant experience that came from a little slightly fearful thought of ‘what if? should I try and’ , you know the kind of ideas you sometimes dismiss because it puts you out of your comfort zone a little. Well this is proof that wonderful things can happen when you put your wishes out into the world.
The biggest of thanks to Nick for the initial introduction, and to Sally and Remi for being outstanding tour guides and a joy to photograph. I’ll definitely be back!
