Intimate Family Focussed Wedding
Back in February I photographed Hannah and Steve’s intimate family focussed Winter wedding down in Taunton. Little did I know that this would turn out to be potentially one of just a handful of weddings I’ll photograph this year. At the time, the country was in the grip of Storm Dennis, remember him? Poor Dennis thought he would be one of the main events of 2020 back then, absolutely no chance mate. Hannah and Steve chose the incredible Boheme at Stawley Wood Farm as the location for their wedding celebrations. A 16th century cider house turned luxe-farmhouse. Basically the house of my dreams, and the perfect place for a smaller wedding celebration. Hannah, Steve, and their closest family members spent the week here, I joined them on the Saturday morning to document the wedding celebrations. They pretty much adopted me as the 15th family member for the day, and gave me the warmest of welcomes.
Old Municipal Buildings Taunton Wedding Ceremony
We had such a lovely relaxed morning of preparations, with Hannah and Steve managing to avoid each other until they were both ready to go. We braved the storm on a vintage bus down some flooded country lanes to the ceremony venue, just what you need to get the blood pumping before a wedding, I think we were all a little relieved to arrive at the Old Municipal Buildings in Taunton in one piece! Even with just your closest family members there, your wedding ceremony can still be nerve racking . I think both Hannah and Steve felt the nerves just before the ceremony began, but soon relaxed.

Following the ceremony, we took a blustery walk down the road to The Cosy Club for a reception brunch. A perfect spot for a Winter celebration, as the name suggests!

Stawley Wood Farm Wedding Photography
With everyone back on the bus, we headed back to Stawley Wood Farm for the rest of the day. Hannah and Steve hired in Ox and Origin to cook everyone a tasty celebratory meal, we walked in from the rain greeted to a farmhouse full of incredible aromas. The evening was full of so many great moments and memories. From the confetti (which kept the children entertained for a really long time), to speeches, to a singalong lead by Hannah’s Dad and Brother. It was a free flowing, relaxed and fun evening. Hannah and Steve’s nieces and nephew were counting down the minutes until they were allowed in the pool, so there was much excitement when they were given the all clear to get in. Hannah and Steve joined them too, fully clothed of course.

I’m so happy I got to spend the day with such a warm and welcoming family. I walked away from this one with a full heart. I’ve photographed quite a few smaller weddings over the years, and they have always had a special connection with me. Probably because I just really like hanging out with people, and a smaller group means I get to know everyone a little better. With a Summer diary quite free for a change (which feels SO weird) I have plenty of space for smaller weddings, shoots with families, friends, and independent business owners. Please get in touch if you want some further information from me.
