I’ve had an idea swimming around in my head recently to create some cinematic portraits. Something with a rough made-up story, photographed on my least used lens (the 24mm, for the photography people), and using the CineStill 800 film, which just screams cinematic… I guess the clue is in the name. The ever-willing muse, Mark, didn’t need persuading to help me out, he’s always up for a spot of creativity. So we took to the streets around Kelham Island, just as the sun was setting.

Playing around with the shapes and silhouettes of Kelham Island, along with the movement and presence from Mark in the beautiful evening light was a great match! I wasn’t too sure how the CineStill film would react to the darker images, but I’m chuffed with the results and there’s nowt wrong with a bit of grain 🙂

As well as working really hard sso far this year, I’ve been trying my best to take time for myself to be creative, practice new things, and do the things that feel like they’re steering me in the right direction. What that leads to, who knows, but it keeps me happy. I’m always excited to hear from anyone who want to try out an idea with me, or do something a little more experimental. So if that person is you, please get in touch HERE , I’d love to hear your ideas.
