I wanted to share some thoughts about how your brand portraits can represent you and your business, in an authentic way. I’ll be honest with you, the word ‘brand’ makes my skin crawl a little bit. It’s not quite as bad as ‘content‘, but it’s up there. It’s also a difficult word to replace, so I’m going with it for the sake of this blog post! Brand plays an important part of our lives (sometimes unconsciously!), particularly if you run your own business. The one thing that makes your business unique, is you. So when it comes to your brand portraits it’s really important to me that they represent you, and not a weird posed version of you doing something that makes you look and feel uncomfortable… nobody needs that awkwardness in their lives.

Research For Your Portrait Session
I like to do my research for every business brand portrait session. That will consist of a phone call with you, looking at your current social media pages and website, and asking a series of questions to help you to consider locations and looks for your session, along with how you want the images to feel once they are edited.

Authentic Portraits
Having authentic photography that shows who you are as a person, will bring the right people to your business. As a small business owner myself, I know the importance of this. I also know it can feel uncomfortable and vulnerable to put yourself out there, but people want to know more about the person behind the business, this can start with a simple portrait of you and a few facts about yourself, something that feels right for you.
